Book this fantastic adventure to complete your Icelandic getaway. Our Northern Lights Expedition is the perfect tour for anyone visiting Iceland, with pick-up from Keflavik City or Reykjavik.

The Northern Lights Tour in Iceland is available from mid-September to mid-April during the dark months. The rest of the year, at night, it is still too bright to see the Northern Lights, even when the activity is very high.

This is a small shared or private tour in a minivan, making this adventure more personal and custom for your group. To hunt for the Auroras in Iceland, we will drive away from the city and find very dark spots and clear skies. Our Aurora Borealis Hunters know the best places to watch them without light pollution or clouds.

Saga of theNorthern Lightys

A mystical Journey in Iceland

In the land of fire and ice, where glaciers whisper ancient tales and volcanoes guard the realms of elves, a celestial dance has captivated souls since the dawn of time. This is the saga of the Northern Lights, a spectacle born from the heavens, weaving a tapestry of color across the Icelandic skies.

Chapter 1: The Legend of Light Elves
In the olden days, it was said that the Northern Lights were the torches held by the Light Elves, beings of otherworldly beauty. These elves resided in Álfheimr, a realm parallel to ours, invisible to the human eye. On special nights, when the sky was clear and the stars twinkled like diamonds, the elves would celebrate, waving their torches so vigorously that the lights would spill into our world, painting the sky with vibrant hues.

Chapter 2: The Valkyries' Path
Another tale speaks of the Valkyries, fierce warrior maidens serving Odin, the Allfather. These celestial beings rode across the night sky, their armor shimmering in the celestial light, creating a stunning display. The Northern Lights, it was believed, were reflections of their shining armor, a guide for fallen warriors on their way to Valhalla.

Chapter 3: Thor’s Thunderous Battles
The mighty Thor, the god of thunder, was known for his epic battles against the giants. With every clash of his hammer, Mjölnir, against a giant's skull, sparks would fly off into the night, turning into the mesmerizing Northern Lights. Each swirl of color represented Thor’s victories, a reminder of his protection over the land of Iceland.

Chapter 4: The Whispering Spirits
In the still of the night, when the lights danced most vividly, it was said that one could hear the whispers of spirits. These spirits, ancestors of the Icelandic people, communicated messages of wisdom and guidance. Elders would often interpret these dances and whispers, using them to lead their people through tough winters and decisions.

Chapter 5: The Modern Embrace
Today, while the legends remain, a new understanding has emerged. Science has unveiled the mystery, attributing the lights to solar winds interacting with the Earth's magnetic field. Yet, the wonder remains undiminished. The Northern Lights continue to be a source of inspiration and awe, a connection to the ancient past, and a reminder of nature's unparalleled beauty.

As you venture into the Icelandic night, wrapped in the warmth of your coat, gazing upwards at the ethereal display, remember the tales of old. Let the dance of the Northern Lights transport you into a world of legends, where every color tells a story, and every shimmer holds a secret waiting to be unraveled in the land of fire and ice.
