Snaefellsnes Peninsula is a truly magical place and often referred to as “Iceland in Miniature,” given to the peninsula because of the diversity of its landscapes. This beautiful area is only about a two-hour drive from Reykjavik and offers great scenery for photography enthusiasts.
The volcano's glistening ice cap, Snæfellsjökull, lava fields, caves, waterfalls, volcanic features, and fishing villages make Snæfellsnes, Iceland’s smallest National Park, the most unique place to visit. The 90-km (55.9 mi) long peninsula is among the few locations in Iceland with golden and pink beaches.
Around the peninsula, you will see stretches of lava fields, amazing crevasses, waterfalls, and attractive villages where you can taste cured sharks!. The stunning overview of the Snaefellsjökull glacier which is a dormant stratovolcano has 1446 m (4744 ft) high with a 200 m (656 ft) deep crater.
Some people believe it to be one of the seven chakras (energy centers) in the world. Many people have a hard time sleeping while visiting Snæfellsnes, due to the magnetic energy from the glacier.
We visit the breathtaking coastal features like at "Londrangar cliffs" which you can see in the famous tv show Game of Thrones. We will explore the "lava landscape" and we have time to take a short walk through the "lava fields" near Arnarstapi hamlet.
We recommend taking the optional lava tube or "cave tour" at Vatnshellir cave near the glacier to discover the wonders of the península from below. In fact, this cave is well known for "probably" being the main inspiration for the classic science fiction novel "A journey to the Centre of the Earth" by Julius Verne.
Visit "Arrowhead mountain" mountain as named in Game of Thrones series but that we call it "Kirkjufell mountain".
We will also visit some beautiful coastal villages like Stykkisholmur, made famous in the movie "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" and his endless road trip around this area. Back to Reykjavik in the early evening after an eventful and magical day at the peninsula of Snæfellsnes.
Join us for this full-day of adventures and excitements with this tour to the Snaefellsnes Peninsula in Iceland.
On this trip, we can combine several activities. See below the add-ons and combinations.
This 8000-year-old lava tube reaches over 200 meters (656 ft) is a truly amazing and unforgettable experience.
